Instantly. .. ageless? Permanently.. damaged.

I did not write this, I got it out of s forum I belong to that someone posted.

So, there is this ‘amazing’ video of a lady using an eye serum to make her under eye bags go away almost instantly. I wanted to share a little FYI with my dear followers. This line is by Jeunesse and is called “Instantly Ageless”. It is sold by ‘individual distributors’ and falls into the MLM category (same as Mary Kay, Avon, BeautiControl, etc)
The TL;DR version: Don’t use this product!!!
The ingredient deck is as follows: Water (Aqua), Sodium Silicate, Magnesium Silicate, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 (Argireline), Phenoxyethanol, Ethylexylglycerin, Yellow 5 (Cl 19140), Red 40 (Cl16035)
Ingredient Breakdown:
Water
typically the main ingredient in most beauty products.
Sodium Silicate
known as ‘liquid glass’ and is used in cements, passive fire protection, textile and lumber processing, refractories, and automobiles. (source: Wikipedia)
Magnesium Silicate
aka ‘Talc’. This is a filler or an anti-caking agent. As a food additive it is safe to ingest. (source: Personal knowledge, Wikipedia)
Acetyl Hexapeptide-8
The manufacturer of Argireline states that it ‘moderates catecholamines release’. There is no scientific data to back this up. Catecholamines are compounds in the body that serve as neurotransmitters such as epinephrine, adrenaline, and dopamine. Argireline supposedly works by intercepting messages from the brain thereby preventing muscle contractions resulting in the temporary disappearance of wrinkles. What happens when you do not use a muscle over time? It weakens. If Argireline moderates the connection between the muscle and brain then the skin where the product is applied would be left sagging rather than tightening over time. Phenoxyethanol
Chemical preservative and bactericide. Japan limits the use of this ingredient in cosmetics. Europe classifies this as a toxin around the mouth and eyes and as an irritant. (Source: Wikipedia, Environmental Working Group)
Ethylexylglycerin – Skin conditioning agent, preservative, carrier agent for phenoxyethanol. Europe classifies this as ‘limited evidence of eye toxicity’ and an irritant. Contact allergen that can be a cause for contact dermatitis. (Source: Paula’s Choice, EWG, PubMed)
Yellow & Red
dyes to make the cosmetic more aesthetically appealing.

ACNE HACK: Assuming you’re not allergic to salicilic acid or aspirin:

We’ve all had that pimple that reared it’s ugly head right before an important event.
When you’re in a bind and need a quick and effective fix, cue aspirin.
Aspirin contains salicilic acid (derived primarily from willow bark) it’s anti-inflammatory properties help reduce the size of the pustules and inhibit the bacteria from breeding further and allowing oxygen to kill the current bacteria.
Take 1 (ONE) uncoated asprin and mix it with just enough water to create a paste. Spot treat the area(s) and… voila :).
